THE JUNIOR ACADEMY OVERVIEW:

The LVSA Junior Academy Program was developed to ensure an environment for advanced players to train and compete against the same caliber of player. It is difficult to determine at an early age which players will reach their goals due to variation in physical and mental development. However, we can recognize the potential in players and give them the opportunity of first-class coaching in an excellent facility with competition from players of similar ability.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVE:
It is our understanding that without the important ingredient of enjoyment, players will not progress. We aim to increase their enjoyment of the game by:

  • IMPROVING SKILL AND UNDERSTANDING

As players improve in all the basic techniques of the game; passing and receiving the ball, dribbling, crossing and shooting, tackling and heading, and the more they understand when to use each technique, the more skillful they become and their enjoyment of the game increases. Another way we increase enjoyment of the game is through interaction with teammates with skillful and imaginative play.

  • WORKING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE TEAM

A further goal of the Academy is to improve understanding of teamwork and the role of each position in the team. In the younger age-groups, players will be taught to play a number of positions to improve their all-around play and knowledge. We have come to realize that it is not until a player’s physical and mental attributes develop fully that their best position can be accurately identified.

  • Training – LVSA will focus on developing the highest standard in preparation, performance and behavior both on and off the field. It will be demanding and will encompass many components of the game in a single session.  This means that the players must be ready to work hard both physically and mentally.

  • Games - We will organize some inter-squad games between our LVSA Junior Academy teams and some ‘friendlies’ with the LVSA teams. These games will not be pressure situations with ‘winning or losing.’ This will allow the players to play without fear of making mistakes and will help them to perform techniques more freely.
  • Uniform - All of the training gear (shirt, shorts, socks and ball) will be provided by LVSA Junior Academy. Players will be responsible for the rest. In case of cold weather, players should wear the LVSA warm-up.

      • Junior Academy Teams – U11, U12, U13, U14, and U15 (Train twice a month)
      • Age Matrix - Jan 1 to Dec 31 (Birth Year)
      • Season – September - December
