THE JUNIOR ACADEMY OVERVIEW:The LVSA Junior Academy Program was developed to ensure an environment for advanced players to train and compete against the same caliber of player. It is difficult to determine at an early age which players will reach their goals due to variation in physical and mental development. However, we can recognize the potential in players and give them the opportunity of first-class coaching in an excellent facility with competition from players of similar ability. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE:
As players improve in all the basic techniques of the game; passing and receiving the ball, dribbling, crossing and shooting, tackling and heading, and the more they understand when to use each technique, the more skillful they become and their enjoyment of the game increases. Another way we increase enjoyment of the game is through interaction with teammates with skillful and imaginative play.
A further goal of the Academy is to improve understanding of teamwork and the role of each position in the team. In the younger age-groups, players will be taught to play a number of positions to improve their all-around play and knowledge. We have come to realize that it is not until a player’s physical and mental attributes develop fully that their best position can be accurately identified.
